Committee Chair - Martha Montoya
As chair of the CHCC ABC Program and recognizing that access to capital is the No. 1 issue for business owners, she took the steps to establish this program in 2004 and recruited the support of various Venture Capitalists and other institutions with the goal of not only providing funds for business, but looking into the future, to also provide the tools to integrate research and education into the program.

Sub-Committees have been created to ensure the program has a dedicated member to develop each portion for maximum success:

  • Coaching/preparation of Client committee
    • Assist on training the local organization
    • Evaluate/guide on any material given to presenting companies
    • Maintain the master sheet for presenting and presented companies
  • Investor relations committee – David Takata
    • Main contact list and data base updated.
    • Criteria for participating in our ABC program
  • Legislative Committee – Paul Garza
    • Partner with the California Legislature to review State policies, resources, programs and regulations to determine the most efficient ways the State can facilitate investment in businesses in California’s emerging markets. The State’s efforts in the past have been well intended but have relied too much on advice from traditional sources that lack the reach and/or understanding of the problems faced by emerging businesses. If access to capital is to be improved, ideas and recommendations need to come from sources that are wider and deeper than before.
    • CalPers for Funding
    • Funding for our organization and members to train local business
  • Fund-Raising Committee – Ivan Cevallos
    • Send proposals
    • Maintain relations with them and their expectations of the program including inviting them to our conference calls and events
    • Report of funds accomplished
  • Website/intranet Committee -
    • Main contact list and data base updated.
    • Maintain intranet and site on the CHCC webpage
  • Communications/Marketing/PR Committee – Edgar Mejia for E-Newsletter
    • Newsletter/Web Site Sub-Committee
    • PR and news releases (strategic)
